Rio Tinto's Iron Ore Group is the custodian of Rio Tinto's iron ore
interests globally. Our operations including Pilbara Iron and
HIsmelt(R) in Australia, Iron Ore Company of Canada and Rio Tinto
Corumba in Brazil with emerging operations in India and Guinea, West
Africa.
The global dimension to our iron ore business is best demonstrated by
Simandou. The Simandou Iron Ore Project is one of the most exciting
and valuable developments within Rio Tinto. Situated in South East
Guinea this world class iron ore province is of exceptional size and
quality. The project comprises development of a 70mtpa mine, a 700km
rail system and construction of a deep water port. This is a
Greenfield development with unique characteristics demanding a highly
innovative approach to development in one of the world's poorest
countries.
The Drilling Supervisor will be responsible for supporting drilling
activities to ensure that Drilling Contractors and fellow team members
focus on achieving the highest quality drilling practices, safety,
sample quality and consistency. With prior experience in planning
logistics, training and supervision of reverse circulation and diamond
drilling programs in remote locations, you will demonstrate proactive
behaviour with regards to safety and environmental issues.
This position provides excellent scope for developing experience in
the planning, supervision and evaluation of complex multi-rig iron ore
drilling programs, in contractor management and will involve regular
campaigned field work. In addition, you will be responsible for the
engagement, development and management of the local workforce team.

Qualifications:
This role requires previous RC and Diamond Drilling experience or
extensive experience in maintaining this equipment and related
machinery, and the successful candidate will be resourceful, self
motivated and possess strong communication and influencing skills. A
Certificate IV in Training as well as Safety based qualifications
would be an advantage. Ideally the successful candidate will have at
least conversational level English and French (written and verbal);
have an awareness of cultural differences and be confident working
with people to collaboratively solve problems. Applications and
