Power Expert(11 Technical Regulation Unit) At Erera

 

The ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA) is a specialized Institution of ECOWAS with diplomatic status. Established in 2008, ERERA is primarily for the purpose of formulating rules for the regional electricity market and supervising its functioning within the framework of the West African Power Pool (WAPP).

Following the constitution of a pool of Experts to be responsible for efficient regulation for the effective launching of its activities, ERERA desires to proceed with the recruitment of qualified and able persons having the capacity to work in teams on complex assignments, conduct studies and prepare technical reports.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced citizens of the Economic Community of West African states (ECOWAS) member states to fill the vacancy position below at the Headquarters of the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA) in Accra. Ghana

Power Expert: Ref: ERA/9. (II Technical Regulation Unit)

Grade; P5 (UA 30,552 34,542)
Duties:

Responsible for issues relating to:

•Review and analysis of ECOWAS Member States Power sector regulator techniques
•Elaboration of technical, economic and financial standards for the power energy exchanges
•Benchmarking of the power sector operators (comparative analysis of the technical, economic and financial performances of the operators at the regional level and periodic update)
•Review of the ECOWAS energy master plan,
•Follow-up of activities related to the development of electricity infrastructure, in the ECOWAS sub-region
•Formulate and propose a tariffs regime and the separation of accounts.
•Propose and set up technical rules and standards.
•Collation, management and monitoring of technical information in the regional electricity market,
•Monitoring of the viability of the regional electricity system
•Improvement of the regulator/ tools in Member States
•Development of a regional framework for environmental protection and energy efficiency
•Alignment of standards in the regional electricity market
•Any other duty as may he assigned by the Chairman of ERERA

Qualifications / Experiences/Skills

•A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or any related field
•Ten (10) years professional experience relating to the conception and management of electric systems including two (2) in supervisory or managerial capacity
•Good knowledge of all types of electric installations, technical management and planning
•Possession of a higher degree would reduce the required professional experience to eight (8) years with two (2) in a supervisory or managerial capacity
•A team player and performance oriented, who is able to work in a multicultural team
•Must be computer literate.
Age

The applicant should not be 50 years old or more at the time of recruitment

Language .requirement

Must be fluent in one of the official languages of ECOWAS Commission, English, French and Portuguese. A working knowledge of another would be an advantage.
